Water budget bill moves to Governor amid speculation of veto

Among the biggest bills for Minot in this session is the Water Commission appropriation bill. This is the legislation that includes dollars for Minot’s flood protection. The version heading to the governor includes $82.5 million for Minot in the next two years. That’s less than Minot was seeking but more than was included in earlier versions.

All in all, there’s little cause to complain – at least in Minot. The story is different for Fargo which was seeking legislative intent language committing the state to $870 million. But the Senate stopped short of that number and arrived at $750 million. The $120 million gulf has some speculating about Governor’s veto. John Hageman has more on the story.
