Keith Benning never set out to lead an animal rescue mission, but life had different plans. Back in 2014, in the quiet expanse of St. John, North Dakota, Benning’s journey began when he took in two frail dogs. Fast forward to today: Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue has saved thousands of animals and garnered support from around the world. Faced with losing their home, Benning’s online community rallied to raise $372,000—surpassing their goal, and keeping the work of the Turtle Mountain Animal Shelter and all those they support alive.
