This is not a typo: Only 3% of Americans are legally allowed to invest in start-ups

There are laws in place that prevent those with modest incomes from investing in start-up companies like Facebook and Google once were — before they go public. We’ll be talking about this concept more this week, but this is known as a ‘barrier to entry’.
