A Sunday evening police pursuit though out Minot led to much community speculation. The Minot Police Department have issued the new release below regarding the incident and subsequent arrest.

On 6/23/19 at about 6:41 PM, officers responded to 2800 block of E. Burdick for the report of a robbery in progress. As officers were arriving at the scene, a male on a motorcycle fled, striking one of the patrol vehicles causing minor damage. Officers pursued and the suspect (later identified as Matthew MIZE) crashed into another vehicle at 8th St and W. University Ave. MIZE fled on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. At that point it was discovered MIZE was carrying a handgun and a backpack containing methamphetamine. Further investigation also revealed that the motorcycle MIZE was riding was stolen. MIZE sustained injuries during the incident and required admission to Trinity Hospital.
The Ward County Sheriff’s Department and the ND Highway patrol investigated the two accidents MIZE was involved in while he was fleeing officers. MIZE was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (A-Fel), Fleeing/Eluding an Officer in a Motor Vehicle (C-Fel), Driving Under Suspension (A-Mis), Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle (C-Fel), Felon in Possession of Weapon (C-Fel) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (B-Mis). No additional people were hurt during the course of the robbery or accidents. Investigation into the matter is on-going with potential additional charges pending.
