On a changing Mississippi, tourism’s importance is growing

Rivers have long been the lifeblood of economic activity. They are both sources of natural resource and pathways to markets and customers. Nowhere is that more evident than along the Missippi River. But increasingly, tourism is carving out a bigger piece from the economic activity pie, and cities and towns are responding to that market pressure by catering and developing to the interests traveling adventurers.
