Minot Assault Leads to Homicide After Victim Passes Away.

Minot Police Department issued the following news release regarding an assault that took place Friday. The victim passed away Sunday; charges have been upgraded to Murder.

On 02.17.23 (Friday) at approximately 6:44 PM officers responded to a NW Minot hotel for a report of an
assault. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male outside with apparent serious, life-threatening
injuries. The victim, a 57 yr old male was transported to the Trinity Hospital. The investigation determined that
the suspect, 33-year-old Casey VOLLMER, struck the victim multiple times as the victim was leaving the hotel.
Officers were able to locate VOLLMER inside one of the rooms and around 11:00 PM, he was taken into
custody. VOLLMER was taken to Ward County Jail and initially held on the charge of Aggravated Assault, a
class C Felony.

On 02.19.23 (Sunday) at 10:03 PM the victim succumbed to his injuries at Trinity Hospital. VOLLMER is now
being held at Ward County Jail on a charge of Murder, a AA Felony.

Investigation into the incident is continuing. The name of the victim is being withheld pending family
notifications.
