Michigan Town Debates Returning Roads to Gravel

The cost of maintaining infrastructure is a challenge facing municipalities across the country. Do we allow our communities to push outward and thus drive up operation, maintenance, and eventual infrastructure replacement costs — thus forcing necessary tax increases? One Michigan town is dealing with the challenge and an idea that’s been put on the table as a solution — returning the roads to the less-costly gravel version.
