On Dec. 17, 2024, at 12:22 a.m., Minot Central Dispatch received a report of an unresponsive female in a northwest Minot apartment.
Officers from the Minot Police Department arrived on scene and discovered a male performing CPR on the victim, Jane Doe. The male performing CPR informed officers that he was Jane Doe’s brother-in-law, and that Friling Hadley 35, of Minot, was a household family member to Jane Doe and was supposed to be waiting outside to meet the responding officers.
Hadley fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. Officers located fresh footprints in the snow. K9 Caspian initiated a track on the footprints and successfully located Hadley approximately a block away from the apartment.
Jane Doe was transported to Trinity Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. She appeared to have markings on her throat
indicative of manual strangulation. Hadley was arrested for Murder (Class AA Felony) and transported to Ward
County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing. Jane Doe’s information will not be released until next of kin has been
notified.
