Hooray! Victoria Bridge Tracking for Completion by August

The Victoria Bridge  — the midtown eyesore and constant reminder of the 2011 flood and the painfully slow recovery process, will soon be back in place providing access over the Souris River. You can listen to City of Minot Engineer Lance Meyer discuss the project in more detail below, but here are the quick details:

  • The project has taken a long time because, in their initial review of the project, FEMA miscalculated the scope of work required to get the bridge back in place. Because the job required more than work and dollars than FEMA thought, an extra layer of review and red tape was required.
  • The project has been approved by FEMA; they are funding 97%.
  • The project has been put out to bid and awarded.
  • Completion date per the construction contract is August 1.

So, we should see the Victoria Bridge back in place before the end of the summer!
