The 1804-1806 epic saga of Lewis and Clark’s journey through the West will be coming to HBO. Casting calls are being put out, especially for speakers of the native languages including Shoshone, Nez Perce, Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, Blackfeet, Chinook, Clatsop, Walla Walla, Sioux and Shawnee.
The story will be based on the book Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose. Casey Affleck is cast as Meriwether Lewis, Matthias Schoenaerts as William Clark, and the six-hour miniseries is backed by Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, and Edward Norton. Production is expected to start this summer.
