Getting outside after a cold snap is fun way to enjoy North Dakota’s winters. It’s rare to find a place that makes 20 degrees feel warm. Fort Stevenson is again hosting an Evening Hike Series in 2023. Start the series and the new year off with a candlelight hike! For the first hike, participants are invited to hike, cross-country ski or snowshoe depending on the conditions. Park staff will use candle luminaries to light the approximately 1-mile trail. The self-guided hike begins at the Visitor Center at 6 p.m.
Afterward, stop by the Visitor Center to enjoy snacks and refreshments or warm up in front of an outdoor fire.
Ski and snowshoe rentals are available on a first come first serve basis. Contact the park office at 701-337-5576 for more information.
An annual or daily vehicle permit is required for park entrance and can be purchased online or at the park.
