City of Minot Promotes Kelly Hendershot to City Attorney

Following comprehensive search for candidates, the City of Minot has promoted Kelly Hendershot to the position of City Attorney.
Hendershot was hired as the Assistant City Attorney in January 2012.  She has continued to serve in this roll and in May 2014 she began handling and completing both the Assistant City Attorney and City Attorney roles.  In his recommendation to the Minot City Council, City Manager Lee Staab wrote the following:  “Ms. Hendershot has done an exceptional job and has proven her capability to be the City Attorney. I am very pleased to recommend Ms. Hendershot for your confirmation.”
Hendershot graduated from the University Of North Dakota School Of Law in Grand Forks with distinction in May 2010, and was admitted to practice with the North Dakota Bar in September 2010.  She also graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead with a Major in English Writing and a Minor in Joint History and Political Science.  Kelly is a member of Municipal Attorney’s Association, North Dakota State’s Attorneys’ Association, Inquiry Committee West, and SBAND Young Lawyers’ Section.
The city council unanimously approved the appointment at the regular city council meeting on May 4th, 2015. Ms. Hendershot will begin her duties as the City Attorney effective immediately.
