City of Minot Amends CDBG Recovery Spending Programs

The City of Minot has posted amendments to the city’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Action Plans.

The first grant in the amount of $67.5 million is being amended to provide funds for a new affordable housing project and to acquire additional properties and remove them out of harm’s way. In addition, a program is being added for down payment assistance for low – to – moderate income individuals.

The funds for these projects are from previous projects that were completed under budget.

The second grant in the amount of $35 million is being amended to provide funds to acquire additional properties and a street improvement project for the affordable housing development at 55th Street Crossing.

Citizen participation is an essential component of the Citywide planning effort. The City ofMinot strongly encourages public participation in identifying needs and the use of CDBG Disaster Recovery Funding. Citizens and other interested parties are invited to comment on Amendment10.

A formal seven (7) day public comment period will begin today, June 10, 2015 for Amendment 10 and Amendment 2 to the Action Plans. Comments will be accepted until close of business, June 17, 2015.
