— Official News Release — As work continues on the new terminal of the Minot International Airport, construction on one of the new parking lots is far enough along that airport officials have decided to open it in order to accommodate travelers this winter. Airport Director Andy Solsvig says more parking was needed as passenger numbers have far exceeded existing space. “Everybody knows our passenger numbers have increased dramatically over the past couple of years, and while we’ve been able to deal with it inside the terminal, it’s getting to be very problematic in the parking lot.” The new lot will be able to handle well over an additional 500 vehicles.
Vehicles will enter the new parking lot off of 3rd Street NE – east of the existing terminal, and south of the construction area. A “credit card in/out” system will be in place in mid-December, but travelers now will need to enter the parking lot in front of the existing terminal, go to the
gate, and prepay for using the new lot. A shuttle service is available between the new lot and the existing terminal. Solsvig would also like to remind travelers to arrive at the airport two hours prior to flight time to allow for parking, check-in and security.
