On this day in 1806, the Lewis and Clark Expedition returned to St. Louis, Missouri, after more than two years exploring the newly acquired western territories of the United States. Their journey provided valuable information about the geography, biology, and indigenous cultures of the region.

Garrison Dam Nearing Completion

Garrison dam is 76 per cent complete, Brig. General W. E. Potter
told the Missouri Basin Inter-Agency committee meeting recently
in Sidney, Mont. He also said that the first power 80,000 kilowatts,
to be generated at the dam is scheduled to be produced in the spring
of 1955.
