When a Savvy Veteran Beat the Babe

Some interesting lessons were learned from the world series baseball games, which resulted in a victory for the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, when “Alexander, the Greater”, a 39-year-old pitcher, stepped in at the seventh inning and won the game and series for the Cardinals. In baseballdom, a man is usually old at 39, but Alexander had Babe Ruth and the other well known Yankee heavy hitters guessing. Alexander had pitched his team to victory the day before and had previously won another game for the Cardinals.

Babe Ruth, who a year or so ago, had been slipping horribly, came back in wonderful shape this year and broke all home run records for a world series, getting three in one game and a fourth in the last game. Ruth is fairly well along in years at that.

Wisdom From the Past
