In Flanders Fields

“In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and
Now we lie in Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The Torch; be yours to hold it high.
If you break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.”

No One Is Above the Law

“Howard W. Garrison, chief of police of the city of Minot was arrested at 11 o’clock Wednesday forenoon on bench warrants issued by Judge John C. Lowe, following his indictment by the Ward county grand jury on three counts charging perjury.”

Conventions are Big for Small Businesses

The recent convention of the North Dakota Education Association which brot 2,500 teachers to Minot on a three days’ visit, proved to be one of the best conventions from a business standpoint this city has ever had. Not only were Minoters privileged to meet a large group of high grade folks, but they had the pleasure of hearing the cash registers ring to a remarkable degree due to the large sums out of town visitors expended.

Why We Chose It

When it comes to economic development, we often overlook tourists. And for a long time, conventions have been a great way to bring them to town. It’s also notable that one of the high school principals took it upon himself to do the economic impact research. Also, it seems nearly every empty room in town was taken up, and not just those in the hotels.
