On This Day | Blame the Pedestrians

Pedestrians need to give more careful attention to traffic rules when walking on highways or crossing streets. Parents need to give more attention to where their children walk and play.

Why We Chose It

When it comes to collisions between cars and people, the severest of consequences always go to the person. So, the edicts of self-preservation place the responsibility of avoidance upon them. But we’re only just beginning to recognize that design of cars and roads contribute greatly to the behavior of the driver and how fast they drive. Which is the largest factor in whether an accident becomes fatal. Also, noteworthy – annual traffic fatalities where about the same as they are now. Also, war shortages were not of little consequence with winter approaching.
