In Verse: These Ladies Bring The King

(a bit of a Gospel tune)

According to St Luke

Norah Jones–The Last Month of The Year

Tamar what are you doing
with the family jewels?
old Judah, no lion, Judah,
save us from these old sad fools

these Ladies bring the King
and so I will sing

Rahab from the streets
who are these strange men that you meet?
you hide the exiles in your skirts
when the soldiers come to flirt

these ladies bring the King
on the last month I will sing

Naomi gives her love to Ruth
Ruth finds love and light and truth
a widow who gives birth
to the light and truth on earth

these ladies bring the King
the sparrows in the trees will sing

Bathsheba, queen by David’s lies
in you the knot of faith was tied
bear witness Wisdom here on earth
a queen who bear’s the Servant’s birth

these ladies brought the King
Hear the song that Saint Luke sings

Mary knew the sacred names
when the mighty angel came
Sister Wisdom sings her song
all Creation sings along

these ladies bring the King
and the Universe will sing
