In Brandon, downtown revitalization a concern

In a world where the information we’re exposed to is protected by our bubble, it’s easy to get the idea that we’re the only place with challenges and that all our challenge are unique. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Check out this post from the Brandon Sun. On any given Tuesday, you could replace ‘Brandon’ with ‘Minot’ and this would be an pretty accurate news story.

Why does this matter? First, it points out that the challenges we’re facing are not unique. And neither are the solutions. Two, it helps us locate ourselves in the race. If you didn’t know it — we’re in competition with places like Brandon. Of course, our region — including Canada — will be more successful if we’re all successful, but don’t make the mistake of assuming that our cities and places aren’t in a friendly fight for our existence.
