During our first event in 2013, TEDxMinot welcomed Ryan Ackerman of Ackerman Estvold Engineering to share his role during and after the 2011 flood.
Ryan’s talk delivers the facts of that momentous event, but also the elements that make us human—the raw emotions of loss.
Such emotions emerge from a passion for the people and places of our city, indicating that the role we play is more than passive existence.
Within Ryan’s view of protecting our city from future devastation emerges a powerful reality: “If we feel passionate about our community, we need to do something about it.”
We all have a role to play in building, creating, and protecting our city. We choose to live in Minot because it possesses a magic that is hard to explain. Perhaps that magic is passion.
Ryan reminds us that on the success failure continuum, the language of “can” lies right in the middle. If we believe in the future of Minot, then change and passion must be fueled by “will.”
TEDxMinot spreads the will of those like Ryan whose commitment to the well-being of our community is evidenced not just in words, but in action.
We’re in this together. If you give it voice, your passions will impact the future of our city.
