This is value-added agriculture, job creation, and so much more!

The progress of Prairie Sky Breads has been a topic of commentary on The Minot Voice in the past. Their example is one we — in government particularly — should take note of. Often, we politicians and bureaucrats get so wrapped up in our notions of ‘job creation’ and the accompanying economic development jargon like ‘value-added agriculture’ and ‘primary sector’ that we lose sight of what real, unassisted economic development looks like.

The Facebook post below from Prairie Sky is an example of pure, organic job creation. And not only is this clearly value-added agriculture but most important of all, it’s an example of value-based commerce. We need more of all of these things. And if we in government can’t figure out how to foster this, then hopefully we can at least stay out of the way.

Congratulations Travis and the entire team at Prairie Sky Breads, thank you for enriching Minot with some Canadian flour!
