Congressman Cramer to Serve on Energy & Commerce Committee

— Official News Release —

Today Chairman of U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton announced Congressman Kevin Cramer will serve on the coveted committee for the 114th Congress. The Energy and Commerce Committee is among the most powerful in Congress, having the broadest jurisdiction of any congressional authorizing committee.

The Committee has responsibility for the nation’s telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health research, environmental quality, energy policy, and interstate and foreign commerce. It oversees multiple cabinet-level Departments and independent agencies, including the Departments of Energy, Health and Human Services, Commerce, and Transportation, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Federal Communications Commission.

“I am honored and pleased to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee in the next Congress. The biggest issues facing our state and nation will be deliberated on this important committee. I realize serving on one of the House’s four “A” Committees carries additional responsibilities, and I am prepared for the challenge. North Dakotans have earned a seat at this prestigious table, and I am honored to occupy it on their behalf,” said Congressman Cramer. “I am grateful to our leadership, especially Speaker Boehner and Chairman Upton for the confidence they have expressed in me, and I am ready for the heavy lift that comes with this awesome privilege.”

“I look forward to welcoming Congressman Cramer as a valuable addition to the Energy and Commerce Committee. As a former energy and telecommunications regulator who now represents the dynamic North Dakota economy in Congress, he brings a deep understanding of the broad range of issues our committee faces as we prepare to hit the ground running next year,” said Chairman Upton.

In the 113th Congress, Congressman Kevin Cramer serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Science, Space and Technology Committee, including five subcommittees. A full announcement on his committee assignments for the 114th Congress will be made at a later date.
