By a vote of 10 to 3 the Minot city council Monday night decided to devote additional study to the proposal that the city apply to the public works administration for a loan of $1,523,000 whereby construction of a natural gas pipeline from Williston to Minot might be financed.

Why We Chose It
One: contemplating a new energy source makes this noteworthy. Two: the method of finance — a loan federal government — is equally noteworthy. Do you suppose Minot would have been considering any part of this but for the opportunity from the Public Works Administration? It’s a lesson in how the federal government gets us to do what they think is right for us — financial incentives. It’s a lesson in how the federal government was trying to stimulate the economy at the time — by getting projects going. If we find word on what happened, we’ll share. But to be sure, Minot did — at some point — get natural gas.
