It is doubtful the tariff will be taken off from paper and the raw material for the manufacture of this article. This would do little good, as Canada, from which country we hope to secure most of the raw materials, will not allow wood pulp or lumber to be exported without a stiff duty. The Canadian government is making a strenuous effort to preserve the forests. In the meantime, the price of print will go up right along and the poor newspaper men will seat in order to meet their bills.
