With eggs so high, it’s a wonder people do not raise more chickens. Our own county could supply Chicago, farmers would cultivate hens instead of grain. Every lot in town should have a chicken coop. The birds grow like weeds, rarely get sick, pick up their living in bugs and grass, and ask only for a little grain. The hen is a cheerful creature, and sings about her work. Omelets should be the rich man’s luxury.
