True Crime Intrigue Finds Front Page

“According to the information received by the Assiniboia police chief, he is inclined to place some credence to the wierd tale told to him by a man who as a small boy, claims to have been an eye witness to the brutal murder. If his story is true, the bones of the victim now lie under a pile of stones at some point 14 miles east of Minot.”

Why We Chose It

Sheer morbid curiosity and the introduction of a good story. If the future finds updates to the old story, you’ll find them here.

The Greatest Generation Needed a Nudge

“Organization may be what’s necessary for the young folks of this generation, but, says Uncle Ulysses S. Growl, who has been watching one of them grow to young manhood, there are still times when it looks to me like a boot-jack properly applied would take the place of an awful lot of organization.”

Why We Chose It

Whoa, hey, that’s the greatest generation you’re talking about there 😉 Or perhaps there’s a theme to the manner in which older generations think about younger generations? Also, our cars are more reliable these days, but that doesn’t mean we can forget the lesson. If you break down in winter, “STAY WITH THE CAR!” Not all of these stories ended as well as this one did.

Rude Hunters Ruin Access

“One woman complained about the way hunters violated the privacy of their home last open season. She said hunters actually came up and looked in the windows of her home. She asked them to stay off her place, and they promised they would only drive across her place, without guns. She says they didn’t keep their promise, but came right through armed with their high power rifles.”

Why We Chose It

We’re right in the middle of the season where the harping has to happen. In our time, the rude hunters have unified many of the landowners and they’re looking to the legislature to post their land for them. North Dakota’s tradition of “access” sets us a part, but rude hunters are sure to be one cause if our “good thing” is spoiled.
