The Ward County Independent, November 13, 1941
Why We Chose It
It’s the earliest reference yet found to the Minot Air Force Base. It’s not known if this selection process would choose Minot, but we do know the world changed dramatically just a few weeks later, so it’s easy to imagine the military’s long-term planning process being disrupted by more urgent demands. Interestingly, the base is referenced as an ‘army’ base; the Air Force had not yet formed.
Japan In No Position to Give Sass
It seems that by 1943 the U.S.A. will be ready to meet all comers in whatever type of war they want to fight but we still feel Japan is in no position to give us any sass. We are making more things to fight with than they might think.
The Ward County Independent, November 13, 1941
Why We Chose It
24 days later Japan would infamously give sass. And the U.S.A. timeline for war would be expedited dramatically. It goes to show, we never know what’s right around the corner. And using the past to predict the future is likely to leave us unprepared.
