Two Seriously Injured in Highway 83 Crash Near Minot

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 83 and 54th Avenue Southwest, two miles south of Minot, resulted in serious injuries for two individuals on Friday morning, October 25, 2024. The crash occurred around 8:37 AM CST under clear weather and dry road conditions.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 77-year-old Paul Simonson of Minot was heading south on Highway 83. Meanwhile, a 2017 Infiniti QX50, driven by a 17-year-old female from Minot, was traveling west on 54th Avenue Southwest and attempted to cross Highway 83. The Infiniti reportedly failed to yield the right of way, leading to an angle collision with the Jeep.

The passenger of the Jeep, 74-year-old Paula Simonson, and the Infiniti driver both sustained serious injuries and were transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot. The Jeep’s driver was unharmed. The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.

Agencies responding to the incident included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Ward County Sheriff’s Office, Minot Rural Fire Department, and First Response Ambulance.
