What’s Changed in 120 Years?

We make the assertion that there is not a man in the state who likes a bottle of beer who would refuse to drink in company with his friends because it was bought illegally. If there is such a man we have never met him; and we have drank beer in this prohibition state with legislators, lawyers, doctors, judges, sheriffs, teachers, church members and even preachers–and never yet had one of them inquire whether it was legally or illegally obtained. It is because such people as these, who enjoy a glass of beer or a Scotch, ignore the law and accept its violation that it is not better enforced.

On The Importance of Newspapers & Editors

In all the towns where a newspaper is published, every man should advertise in it, if nothing more than a card stating his name and the business he is engaged in. It does not only pay the advertiser, but it lets people at a distance know the town in which you reside is a prosperous community of business men.

Scandinavian Replacement Theory

Whether this is an outburst from an attack of nightmare, caused from an over indulgence from the political pie counter, or the outcome of something more serious, is hard to say. It is the belief of many that the present management of the Optic has been imbibing too freely from the fountain of politics as set up by the present state machine, and has grown very hilarious over the knowledge thus obtained. It is also the common belief that if one partakes too freely of the stuff that invigorates, after one has become hilarious, it is apt to lead to a delirium to such an extent that the mind will tremor. When one has advanced to this stage, one is very apt to see horrible and dangerous objects, purely visionary.
