The war in Ukraine is a tragedy. It’s also a demonstration of courage, and it exposes the existential stakes of failing to hold back the push of authoritarianism.

The U.S. is far from perfect, we have a chequered past on many issues. Still, ours is a nation and a system of government based on high ideals. It seeks to improve, and shares power (generally) according to the authority citizens grant through our Constitution.

The war in Ukraine is a reminder that we are lucky, and that what we have is what Ukraine is fighting for. And given our time and technology, we have the ability to be informed on the war in Ukraine as never before in human history. As the conversation around arms and monetary support continues in our country, informing ourselves about the situation is the least we can do.
