#TrollsMatter — Not One More Bridge!

Two summers ago, we rebuilt the 4th Avenue Bridge near Oak Park. Last summer and this summer, we’re reconstructing the Broadway Bridge.

Yes, both bridges seem like sturdy constructions; I’ve got no reason to doubt their structural integrity. I even like the way they look. But I’ve still got a question that concerns me deeply — where the hell are the trolls?

We call ourselves the ‘Magic City’, we’re home to North America’s largest Scandinavian heritage festival, and our Scandinavian Heritage Park is North Dakota’s top tourist attraction. We’ve got all that going for us, and yet, we manage to build two brand new bridges without putting a troll anywhere in the picture?

Seriously, how is this possible?

I don’t know who we have leading our Department of Magical Creatures, but clearly, they’re asleep at the wheel. I demand accountability. If we — as a community — are ever going to separate ourselves as a unique place to set roots, it’s going to start with remembering who we are and building on our strengths. #TrollsMatter
