The City of Minot has declared a snow removal emergency for city snow routes. This declaration prohibits all vehicles from parking on streets marked as “Emergency Snow Routes” until all streets have been cleared of snow.
“Now that the snow is settling, it’s time for our plows and trucks to clear snow from all roads,” says City of Minot Public Works Director, Dan Jonasson. “We ask that residents avoid parking along snow routes to allow our plows to effectively clear the streets.”
The emergency will be in effect until further notice.
City of Minot ordinance allows the Public Works Director to declare a snow removal emergency when necessary. A violation of the declaration may result in a fine and the vehicle may be removed from the streets.
Additionally, the City of Minot asks residents to also avoid parking on any city street, if possible, until all residential roadways can be cleared.
“Our drivers have been concentrating on the main routes up to this point, and now it’s time to clear the rest of the streets.” Says Jonasson.
City of Minot snow removal policy is to concentrate all efforts on snow emergency routes and major roadways during snow events until the snowfall concludes. Once the winter precipitation rests, city plows continue on residential streets.
Street Department employees began working around the clock at midnight on Monday morning and will continue until all snow has been removed from city streets.
