City Managers Report, November 7, 2016

The City Manager’s report is the most informative portion of the meeting from the perspective of what’s happening with the city. Listen and follow along on the slide show below.

Discussion on Renovations to Utility Billing for Security Purposes

An agenda item to add security in the utility billing section of City Hall generated some discussion. Ultimately, a motion to move the issue back to committee failed. Then a vote on the original item to complete the work as proposed by the Finance Committee also failed. Listen to that discussion and vote below.

No Raises for Elected Officials

The City’s Reorganization Ad Hoc Committee was tasked with making recommendations to City Council on how to shepherd the City through the voter-mandated change to a 7-member Modern Council. One issue brought forward for discussion was compensation for elected officials. The committee had recommended changes, but the full council had other ideas. An  Alderman Sipma amendment to keep pay rates at their current levels was passed by City Council. Full Discussion is below as well as comments by Alderman Podrygula on other issues related to the reorganization.

What’s Happening in the Lincoln Neighborhood

A concerned resident of the Lincoln School neighborhood addressed council with the hopes of seeing some portion of this area returned to park or green space.
