This past Saturday, the Friends of the Souris River organized their second river cleanup in as many months. This effort focused around the now-dead loops in the area of Oak Park and Nubbin Park and the results were dramatic. The final numbers:
- More than 60 Volunteers including 10 kids
- 4.5 tons of trash removed
- 375 garbage bags filled
- 11 Tires Removed
- One Wrestling Trophy

We’re thrilled with the results and grateful to all our volunteers and sponsors. Hidden underneath all the muck and trash is a really beautiful river channel, and I think Minot is starting to see that. We’re [Friends of the Souris] going to keep calling attention to what we believe is one of our most valuable natural assets.
